Winner | Sahib Sharma
Sahib Sharma is a local 14-year-old whose family immigrated to the United States from India. Growing up, Sahib was the only person in his schools of Indian descent. Unfortunately, when Sahib reached middle school, his accent, looks, and culture set him apart from other students, many of whom bullied him. After switching schools, bringing his grades up, and focusing on weight loss, Sahib is now an advocate for mental health in young children.
Finalist | Macallan & Keller Polk
Mac Polk is a sophomore at Bishop Manogue where he plays football and lacrosse. Keller Polk attends Little Flower School and plays soccer and loves running. They have great grades and do well in school with an interest in computers, science and math. Both boys are members of Boys Team Charity, a philanthropic organization where they serve the Reno community volunteering for organizations such as Eddy House, Project 150 and Keep Truckee Meadows Beautiful. Over the past 11 years, Mac and Keller have participated in St. Baldrick’s Shave for the Brave to raise money for children’s cancer research. Their dedication to raising awareness and funds for kids and families facing cancer diagnosis and treatment is truly extraordinary. *Nominated jointly as siblings
Finalist | Jaysen Vokes
