This award recognizes a business whose dedication and contributions have demonstrated a tremendous impact on their local communities. Eligible businesses must have on-the-ground operations in PBS Reno’s northern Nevada and northeastern California viewing areas. Businesses do not have to be locally owned.

Renown Children's Hospital has flown under the radar for too long.  Over the last 8-10 years, it has grown into a legitimate pediatric hospital, providing specialty, subspecialty, surgical, emergency, and intensive care to young people throughout Northern Nevada.  The Children's Hospital has gained sufficient recognition that other, more established hospitals in our region (Las Vegas, California, Oregon) have sought assistance from Renown during recent outbreaks of illness.

Donor Network West works with healthcare partners across northern Nevada and northern California to recover organ, eye, and tissue donations with compassionate support and services. Donor Network West opened its new Northern Nevada Headquarters in Reno in support of its efforts to expand outreach, education and donations services in the northern Nevada community. Donor Network West champions the cause of organ and tissue donation in the community to help heal and save more lives.

Sparks Grocery Outlet at 2020 Oddie Blvd, Ray and Angie have worked for their community since they got this business in Sparks. They have adopted a local school and donated over 100 backpacks full of school supplies, gave students healthy snacks per class level once a month, and donated to the school’s pantry. They have donated food to several places in the community including the senior center, the Eddy House with over 200 bags of non-perishable food, and over 4k in non-perishable food to Communities in Schools of Northern Nevada.
