GLOSSARY

STEM — STEM stands for science, technology, engineering, and math. It represents an interdisciplinary and integrated approach to gathering hands-on experience and applying “real-world” knowledge. People who work in STEM fields use knowledge in science, engineering, technology, or math to understand the world around us and to solve problems.

Infrastructure — Medical Ventilator – a machine that helps patients breathe.

To assemble — to put parts together, often to make a machine.

Technician — a person skilled in a specific task.

Topographic map — a map on a scale large enough to show roads, plans of towns, and contour lines.

Clean room — an environment free from dust and other contaminants, mostly used in the manufacture of electronics.

Calibration — checking to make sure that a tool or machine operates within the correct measurements and parameters.
