GLOSSARY
STEM — STEM stands for science, technology, engineering, and math. It represents an interdisciplinary and integrated approach to gathering hands-on experience and applying “real-world” knowledge. People who work in STEM fields use knowledge in science, engineering, technology, or math to understand the world around us and to solve problems.
Automation Engineer— An automation engineer is an expert who uses technology to design, create, program and manage machines, systems and other processes to maximize efficiency while reducing the need for human intervention.
Aerospace— Aerospace is a branch of technology and industry relating to aviation and space flight.
Adhesive Bonded Fastener— An adhesive bonded fastener is a component which uses adhesives to create a strong, permanent connection between surfaces. They can be used on a variety of materials, including metals, plastics and composites.
Composite— A composite is a material created by combining two or more constituent materials with different chemical and physical processes.
Molding— Molding is a manufacturing process which involves shaping a liquid or pliable raw material by using a fixed frame.
Rivet— A rivet is a metal pin or bolt used to fasten flat pieces of metal or other thick materials.
Production Lead— The production lead oversees the daily production activities of a team including setting and achieving production goals, monitoring procedures and ensuring a safe and clean work environment for employees.
Fabricate— Fabricate means to produce a product such as in an industrial process.
Overlay— Overlay means to cover something with a layer.
Augmented— Augment means to increase the value or size of something by adding to it.
