RENO, NV (JAN 31, 2025) — PBS Reno is pleased to feature Richard H. Bryan on its award-earning program ARTEFFECTS. Bryan has the distinction of being the only Nevadan to serve as a state assemblyman and senator, attorney general, governor, and U.S. Senator. Bryan recently published My Life in Nevada Politics: The Memoirs of Richard H. Bryan.

“I thoroughly enjoyed participating in this production of ARTEFFECTS with the team from PBS Reno,” said Bryan. “Being able to share my personal and professional experiences with public television viewers is an opportunity I will forever cherish. I have always regarded public television as having an important place in our society that must be protected for future generations.”

The ARTEFFECTS episode featuring Bryan airs Sunday, February 2, 2025 at 6:30pm on PBS Reno channel 5.1 or Spectrum 785. The episode can also be streamed at pbsreno.org/livestream

“We are honored to feature Senator Bryan and his new book on ARTEFFECTS,” said Rebecca Cronon, PBS Reno Content Creator. “We are always inspired by the many genres and individuals with varying backgrounds featured on the program. No two artists are alike; however each artist deploys a similar breadth of passion for creating. Senator Bryan is no exception; it was a pleasure to work with him and capture a slice of his story for our viewers.”

My Life in Nevada Politics: The Memoirs of Richard H. Bryan was co-authored by John L. Smith, a longtime Las Vegas journalist, author, and 2016 Nevada Newspaper Hall of Fame inductee.

“I will always be grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with the remarkable Richard Bryan on his memoir,” said Smith. “Sharing some of that journey with the professionals at ARTEFFECTS and PBS Reno really helps highlight the story and remind the community of Bryan's positive and historic impact on our state.”

Now in its 10th season, ARTEFFECTS broadcasts each Sunday on PBS Reno at 6:30pm. Each episode is hosted by Beth Macmillan of Artown. The locally-produced segments can be enjoyed on the PBS Reno YouTube channel, giving all viewers the chance to learn about the arts in and around northern Nevada.

“ARTEFFECTS is a hallmark of local productions from PBS Reno and is a perfect example of the thoughtful and rich storytelling people can expect from public television,” said Dave Santina, PBS Reno Director of Local Content. “We do not take for granted the financial support we receive from our community that allows us to spend time with our subjects for all our productions and craft stories that reflect the best of humanity.”
