Giving Tuesday is a global generosity movement that unleashes the power of radical generosity. Created in 2012, Giving Tuesday is a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. Since then, it has grown into a year-round global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity. Whether it’s making someone smile, helping out a neighbor or stranger, showing up for an issue or people we care about, or giving some of what we have to those who need our help, every act of generosity counts and everyone has something to contribute toward building the better world we all want to live in.

“This Giving Tuesday, we’re reminded that philanthropy is at the heart of our community,” said Sam Harris, PBS Reno Director of Membership. “Your support makes it possible for PBS Reno to continue delivering trusted, quality educational programming that enriches lives and fosters connections. Every contribution, no matter the amount, is a step toward strengthening the future of public television — for all of us. Thank you for being an important part of this journey.”

PBS Reno is an independent not for profit public television station, not owned by or affiliated with any university, government agency, or public radio station. Its services on and off the air are made possible by the communities it serves every day. The output of its services is reflective of the financial support it receives from members of PBS Reno. As of 2024, financial support from individuals, community groups, companies, and grants amounted to 82%.

“Giving Tuesday is an opportunity to celebrate the incredible power of collective generosity,” said Emma Glenn, PBS Reno Vice President of Development. “At PBS Reno, we’re honored to be a part of a community that values education, storytelling, and connection. Your support today fuels our ability to serve as a resource for curiosity and growth, bringing innovative educational tools into classrooms and telling the stories that matter to northern Nevada and beyond. Together, we can continue to make a lasting impact.”
