PBS Reno Announces Call for Entries for Inaugural 2020 Spotlight Awards & Auction

RENO, NV (JUNE 11, 2020) – Do you know someone who stands out by making our community better? PBS Reno has announced its call for nominations for its Spotlight Awards & Auction, highlighting individuals and community groups who are making a positive impact in the region.

This inaugural, on-air awards program takes the place of the station’s in-person gala traditionally held in September.

PBS Reno will present five Spotlight Awards in the following categories:

  • Extraordinary Community Group
  • Extraordinary Local Business
  • Extraordinary Educator
  • Extraordinary Young Neighbor
  • Extraordinary Neighbor

“We at PBS Reno are so proud to be a part of this community and we are very excited to be able to share that in highlighting the incredible people and organizations who make our region such an exceptional place,” said Brynne Kenney, PBS Reno Vice President of Administration. “Especially during these uncertain times, we want to celebrate lifting each other up and recognize those who are making an extraordinary impact. We need everyone to nominate those who have been doing just that.”

To nominate a deserving person, business or organization, visit PBS Reno’s website and click the desired category to begin the nomination process. The deadline to submit nominations is Monday, July 6, 2020 at 5pm PST.

Voting will take place Monday, July 13 through Monday, August 31. The winners will be revealed live on-air during the Spotlight Awards & Auction on Sunday, September 13 on PBS Reno channel 5.1

The Spotlight Awards & Auction will also feature an exciting on-air auction of items and packages, with proceeds benefiting PBS Reno’s local productions and educational outreach.
