PBS Reno Selects Carano Family as Extraordinary Philanthropists of the Year
RENO, NV (Apr. 20, 2022) — PBS Reno has proudly selected the Carano Family as the 2022 Extraordinary Philanthropists of the Year. This award recognizes a person, family or organization that has touched the lives of countless northern Nevadans and their families through philanthropic acts including but not limited to generous grants, community events, and opportunities to underserved populations.
PBS Reno will honor the Carano Family during the station’s biggest fundraiser of the year, the Spotlight Awards and Auction, which will take place on Friday, September 16, 2022, at the Grande Exposition Hall at the Silver Legacy Resort Casino.
“The entire Carano Family would like to thank PBS Reno for the great honor of being named 2022’s Extraordinary Philanthropists of the Year,” said Donald Carano, Caesars Director of Community Relations. “Reno has been our family’s home for over a century and we wouldn’t have been able to accomplish what we have without a strong community behind us. PBS has always had a special place in my family’s heart, with my mother, Lisa, being on the board. When my sister Alyssa and I were younger, we would watch PBS and relish in all the great educational opportunities it provided. We are excited to keep supporting PBS and to continue to watch it thrive.”
Through its philanthropic work, the Carano Family works with and benefits numerous local non-profits and organizations including Boys and Girls Club of Truckee Meadows, Youth in Pursuit, University of Nevada Athletics, Nevada Basketball Academy, Salvation Army, Volunteers of America, Keep Memory Alive, Urban Roots, Step2, Wooster High School, and the Nevada Humane Society.
“We are delighted be back in person for the Spotlight Awards and Auction this year and continue to highlight the incredible people and organizations who make our region such a special place,” said Emma Glenn, PBS Reno Vice President of Development. “PBS Reno is thrilled to “spotlight” everything the Carano Family has done for the community with the Extraordinary Philanthropists Award.”
The PBS Reno Spotlight Awards and Auction will also celebrate three finalists each from the following categories: Extraordinary Youth, Extraordinary Individual, Extraordinary Educator, Extraordinary Community Group, and Extraordinary Local Business.
The public is invited to submit their nominations in each category online through May 13. The public can vote weekly July 15 through August 15, and the winners will be announced during the PBS Reno Spotlight Awards and Auction. For tickets and sponsorship opportunities, visit here.
